A Wash And A Wax Are Important To Vehicles

Whether your car is showroom new or has been around the block, and whether you use your truck for riding around town or off-road mudslinging, it’s important to follow a cleanup routine to protect your vehicle’s finish.

Regular cleaning and the use of appropriate protecting treatments can help preserve the exterior paint and prevent cracking and damage on the interior as well.

The most critical step in this is to have the exterior cleaned extremely well. It is so easy just to hose down the outside of your car but a proper wash means more than this. Dirt, bird droppings and salt all damage the paint and need to be removed from the surface properly.

Be sure to use a cleaner designed for automotive paint finishes and not household cleaners. Dish detergent, often used when washing at home, can strip wax and damage the finish.

Always work from the top down and don’t overlook the road tar that is likely to be caked along the lower panels of your car. Begin your wash with a weak sponge and move on to harder ones if they do not work. Do not damage the finish by pushing too hard on it. Rely instead on choosing products designed to remove whatever you have on your car.

So now that you have cleaned the entire outside of the car you must do the inside, it is just as important. Your comfort will increase when you travel in a clean car so throw out all rubbish inside the car. It’s also important to wipe down surfaces with a product designed to provide protection from UV rays, which can dry out leather and cause plastic to crack.

Clean the inside of your windows thoroughly so that you can see out of them properly. It’s surprising how much grime can build up inside, but you’re likely to find your glass covered with a film that can impair vision and even cause an accident. Smokers will notice that the inside of the windows will grow dirtier much quicker.

Once your vehicle is clean, you’ll want to think about protecting your work with wax or polish. They all help preserve the finish and give it a gloss. Polish and wax in the shade to protect the car and only begin a new small area once you have completed the first small area. Don’t allow it to dry completely or it could damage your paint.

You can also brighten your tires with products designed to clean and protect wheels, and sprays that restore the black luster to your tires.

If this begins to sound like too much work, or something you don’t have the tools, inclination or space to handle, don’t despair. There are professional car detailers that can do all of these things for you at an affordable price.
