If you are planning to purchase car parts online there are a couple of guidelines you should follow. I will try to help you as best and quickly as I can with a few basic rules which will make buying car parts online simple.

Buying Car Parts Online

The internet is a good resource if you are just looking around looking for parts. It will provide valuable information as well as pricing guidelines on almost every part ever manufactured. There will obviously be a few very rare parts that the internet will be unable to help you with, but for most common parts it is an invaluable resource.

Notice how I said shopping but not buying. I would use and abuse the internet to learn as much competitive information on the car parts you want as possible. Then before car parts online shop locally, particularly if you are searching for used parts.

Take notes on the part you are looking for and see what the best price you can get for this including shipping is. If you can get the same part locally for less than this (remember to include tax) than you are much better off purchasing locally. It will be easier to handle the store if you have any issues if you know where you bought this.

This is right for both new and used parts, but I would highly recommend only purchasing used car parts online if it is your only recourse. Used parts can be quite difficult to determine quality even with the product in hand, much less through somebody’s web page who is selling you.

While you may not need to be interesting in buying used car parts online, again the internet will offer you important info to find the part and perhaps the auto repairing tools such as thickness gauges and wet film thickness gauge that you want. Instead of needing to call many different junk yards looking for your part, you can use the internet to track it down and have pricing. Hopefully you can find a junk yard locally that can help you out. If not you could find one somewhat nearby which you could drive to.

Either way if you do decide to buy car parts online I would only recommend going with new ones. Used parts are risky as is and there is no reason to make this any riskier. Good luck with your purchase and hopefully this has helped you out.
