One condition that happens quite a lot to people is dehydration. Dehydration is quite common enough that people are aware that it occurs when we fail to replace the loss of water in our body, but the common misconception is that this only happens when we have gone without water after a long bout of exercises or when we go wandering around in the desert with only a small bottle water for refreshment. This happens to be right for both illustrations. Most people who go to the gym overlook the fact that they have to keep up their internal water level as they go about doing their exercise routine, as a result a lot of them become dehydrated. It also applies to people who get themselves lost in the desert, and with serious repercussions.
More often than not, individuals get dehydrated through the simple fact of not drinking the right amount of water. Most of us are not even aware of it, sliding bit by bit into dehydration until the time we begin to feel thirsty. If you already feel thirsty, then there’s a good chance that dehydration has set in because you’re body is already sending you alarm signals. If you feel worn out all the time and feel sluggish, like you’re ill and might faint anytime soon, then these may also indicate that you might be dehydrated. You might tell yourself that you can’t be dehydrated because you’re frequently taking liquids, you’re wrong – drinking fluids rich in sugar isn’t really effective in hydrating you, so is drinking diuretics like coffee which makes you urinate more frequently causing you to lose fluid faster.
Dehydration can be quite dangerous if you’re suffering from this along with diarrhea or vomiting. It would be very difficult to replace the fluid you’ve lost if you can’t keep anything in your stomach long enough for your body to absorb it. This should be easy enough to treat, all you need to do would be to double or triple your fluid intake and drinks liquids that have electrolytes. One other way to rehydrate your body would be to ingest fluid through an IV, but this should only be done under a doctor’s supervision.
When you come down to it, there really is just one solution – water, you take in water to hydrate yourself and take plenty enough to avoid dehydration. You’re thinking it’s elementary, but then drinking plenty of water is actually one of the most basic things we do and is quite essential to our health and well-being. Keeping yourself properly hydrated is actually really easy, you can start with placing a glass of water on your desk while you’re working or you can carry a bottle of water around your bag so you’ll have something to drink the moment you feel thirsty.
