Traditional inns bring to mind images of buildings with low ceilings, huge log fires, stone floors and during the winter the snow and wind whistling against the door.  An inn should always be a welcoming home from home, cosy and comfortable with good company, great food and good beer.  In Keswick this is no exception and whether you come here during the snow-covered winters or during the beautiful summers, where you can enjoy the hospitality out-of-doors, if you choose a Keswick Inn or a Keswick hotel you will be guaranteed a warm welcome.

The quaint market town of Keswick is found in the Lake District National Park near Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwent Water.  Overlooked by stunning fells, the traditional and picturesque market is held every Saturday in the pedestrianised main street, it is heaven for people who enjoy the outdoors but the tourists not only come for the lakes and mountains.  Keswick holds many festivals and events which have become very popular, amongst them the the annual beer festival.

Hotels in Keswick range from the comfortable bed and breakfasts to the more luxurious hotels, there are also a good variety of Keswick Inns to choose from too.

The 18th Century Keswick Lodge was was originally a coaching inn and today still has some of those original features. It is amongst only a few of the 4 star hotels in Keswick.  Great for visitors with families; even those bringing the family pet, the staff and the service here are top notch.  The hotel offers a choice of room types from single to family rooms each featuring LCD TV and tea and coffee making facilities.  In the bar locally brewed ales are served and the restaurant also features seasonal locally produced dishes on its menu.

The Coledale is a 19th Century Victorian and Georgian country inn in a realxing hillside position just above the village of Braithwaite, 2 miles from Keswick.  The Inn offers 20 en-suite guest rooms and two cosy bars.

Visitors choosing to stay at the Middle Ruddings Country Inn do so for its friendly air. Located in the pretty lakeland village of Braithwaite, the inn offers incredible views of the Skiddaw mountains and is particularly popular with families travelling with children and pets.

For an different experience to the Keswick Inns try one of the recommended Keswick hotels such as the Keswick Country House Hotel in a traditional British style with afternoon tea and English lawn games.  The hotel has a lodge style atmosphere with an open fireplace, as well as a gym and outdoor pool.

Another favorite is the award winning Swinsdale Lodge Hotel.  The hotel was awarded ‘Best Small Hotel of The Year’ in 2007 by the Cumbria Tourism and visitors will see why, the staff are always friendly and attentive and the rooms well equipped and comfortable.

The Keswick inns and the hotels are full of character and original features, so whether you’re someone who enjoys the atmosphere of traditional villages and relaxing by the lakeside or whether you prefer something more exhilerating, a stay in Keswick will leave you feeling rejuvenated.
