Just like any other sporting activity there will no doubt be equipment tailored to the sport and choosing the item you want can often be tricky. This applies to every piece of equipment and clothing, including skate shoes. So what do we need to know in order to purchase some good quality skate shoes?
A well made skate shoe is stitched. Many cheaper versions are just glued, but this is not enough to give them the strength to stand up to the job. As any skateboarder will know your shoes have a lot to stand up to so well made shoes are a must. Triple stitched shoes would of course be the best but always choose a stitched shoes over one that is glued. Using your normal shoes for skateboarding will not last you very long and you are much better off making the investment. Some sort of leather of equally durable material is what you will want to look for.
Skate shoes should also be reinforced. Because of the stress these shoes get put under this point is a must. For this reason you will find that most skate shoes provide additional features to provide you with that extra level of protection. Some skate shoes need to have extra layers on the toe and some also have them on the side and the heel. A flexible sole is also a feature of good skate shoes, as you will need as much manoeuvrability as possible.
With all these factors, it may sound like the shoes will weigh a great deal, but some are actually fairly light. Some of the well known brand names are endorsed by a professional. This will indicate that the shoe is of good quality, as most professionals will not want their name associated with a badly made product.
Having a quick look online will no doubt give you plenty of options with brands like Etnies having many different options to choose from.
